try Street and Performance, they have what you are looking for.....or you can get the Ram Jet 502 system and a stand alone unit for the 4L80E.

you can get the RamJet style intake if that's what you want, and the BigStuff3 ecu, which controls both engine and tranny w/ one box. Wink

If anyone is interested, here is the latest list of prices for the Arizona Speed & Marine setup. I had them quote me a full setup so I could price/replace missing pieces and it turns out the orings I need for the upper/lower plenum aren't even in the quote, <grin>... In a follow up email, I was told those are $12.95 a set.

A person can also get parts from a boat shop since this is basically a MercuryMarine HP500 intake. In fact, the one I have from AS&M actually has the brass inserts in the waterways... Which may be handy, since the SS does't float worth a durn.

Item Description Unit Price
ASM-4000-O Big Block TPI Oval Port Manifold 631.58
ASM-4001 Big Block TPI Plenum 325.00

0.50001000 1/8" Vacuum hose 0.50
001000 MPI Fuel Injection hose 4.50

Subtotal 4,753.42

The majority of this stuff is overpriced. i'm building my fuel rails (AS&M sells it for 12.00 a ft.) and a custom throttle cable from Lokar is a third of that price.
Ditch the ecu, harness and calibration and grab a fuel pump from a vette, and there is significant savings that you can put back into your own fuel mgmt (megasquirt in my case). There are cheaper setups available, and perhaps better performing ones, but I've seen this setup on a 496 in a 90 model and it is sweet looking... An AS&M 496 has been the 'dream motor' for my truck ever since.

Martin Jacobi has the AS&M setup on his.  He likes it, but he said if he had to do over, he'd the the single plane intake setup similar to mine or DWDs.  He said he pretty much has to take the upper intake off to get to the ditributor.  That's another reason to convert to distributorless ignition. Wink

Is that ecu that's listed programmable?  I know it's not a wideband.

Somone should just buy my setup for $2800. Grin

I'm not sure. I thought the Delphi MEFI.4B was the same ECU that GM provides with the factory L18 /8.1L in the newer trucks.

I hadn't ever considered using it, so I've never looked into it.

Hey man no problem...about Street and Performance-You have to be patient with the shipping on them, I know, I did the Holley Stealthram swap on my SBC this past year and it took a while to get everything.  The website is www.hotrodlane.cc as mentioned before.

Good luck with the swap.

Thanks everyone. The AS&M set up is not that much more than the Street & Performance one. I like the "old style" TPI as opposed to newer "Ram Jet" style ... at least from a visual standpoint.
Time to put it all together is not an issue (boy, i never thought i'd say that <grin>)
I'm looking for driveability, everything to work and lastly something around 14.00.

I have the 8.1 in my avalanche .... it moves that 6400 lb 4X4 pretty well. I'll have to thow a G-Tech on it for some time info.

I have an e-mail out to hotrodlane requesting more info!

How about the Edel MPFI conversion?
How much performance gain is there compared to a "well set-up TBI"?
Much less expensive than the TPI's ....

Your really gonna have to play with the Edel unit to get it to perform close to the ASM unit. I'm talking bigger injectors custom tune, bigger TB and all. I'm considering turning my Edel MPFI to sequential. Eventually it will be controlled by the Accell DFI unit. I would love to have the ASM unit but it's only 49 state legal. Sad

Let me guess ..... not legal in the state of .... California!
Keep in mind I would like to be able to drive to Calif.
If I'm only looking for 14.00 is the ASM unit overkill??

It won't be when you get tired of 14.00 and decide to go faster.

Seriously, just keep your TBI... Lots of people are going faster than 14.00 with it.
